Rainbow Crow - A Native American Legend
MUSICAL LEGENDS rendition of RAINBOW CROW is an interactive, educational and theatrical performance that delights audiences of all ages in a spellbinding style that both entertains and instructs.
Based on a children's story book, RAINBOW CROW is the poignant tale of how fire was brought down to Mother Earth in a self-less act that affects permanent and positive change.
Throughout the performance, MUSICAL LEGENDS interweaves the language, history, and storytelling traditions of the indigenous Native American Lenape culture - the Native people from the areas we now call New Jersey, parts of New York, Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
Assuming the role of the tellers of tales, MUSICAL LEGENDS encourages the audience to become the animals of the story through Native American sign language, singing Native American songs, and dancing a toe-heel dance step- getting everyone into the action.
An enchanting combination of song, dance, storytelling, live action and the haunting sounds of Native American flute music; elk skin drums; gourd, turtle and deer toe rattles, MUSICAL LEGENDS explores with the audience the Native people's relationship to Mother Earth.
"We will listen with our ears and see with our eyes and
open our hearts to this beautiful tale. Ho? He!"

RAINBOW CROW'S FIRE CELEBRATION WORKSHOP:
Immediately following the performance or as a stand alone event, participants create their own props called Fire Stick that MUSICAL LEGENDS designed specifically for RAINBOW CROW.
Participants decorate them with stencils created from Native American and Lenape pictograph and beadwork designs. The significance of each element is explored, including the Lenape Creation Story of Turtle Island.
